AFTER HOURS EMERGENCIES : For after-hour emergencies please call our emergency cell phone at 264-2454. For medical emergencies please call 911.

GUEST AMENITIES: Housekeeping has provided a starter kit of basic amenities including hand soap, bathroom tissue, facial tissue, laundry soap, trash liners, dishwashing detergent and dishwashing liquid. Any additional amenities are the responsibility of the guest. A CD player, VCR and DVD player are provided. You may wish to bring CDs and DVD's with you.

BEACH TOWELS: Two beach towels are provided for your use. Please leave them in the unit when you checkout. A $25 charge will be assessed for any missing towels including bath towels.

CLEANING: Your condominium has been thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival and will be cleaned when you depart. If you are not happy with housekeeping upon arrival call Mary at CRH 879-2778 extension 243.

LIVING IN TROPICS: Because of our tropical climate it is very important to keep perishables in the refrigerator, wipe counters and stove down after each use, keep floors swept and to remove trash daily. Trash area is located to the right of the entrance door as you leave.

TELEPHONE: The telephone service is a private line. Calls to points on Maui are free. Long distance calls to other islands and mainland must be made using a credit card, calling card or calling collect. Costco has the best value in calling cards.

OIL STAINS: Suntan oil is almost impossible to remove from carpets, upholstery and linen. Please exercise care!

SAND AND WATER : Please remove sand from towels, beach mats, etc. prior to returning to the condominium. There is a shower by the pool area to rinse off before entering condo. Please do not sit on beds and couch with wet suits.

SAFETY & SECURITY: When leaving the condo unattended, please close and lock all windows and doors and close drapes.. This will provide security and protect the condo from the occasionally strong sun and trade winds. The deadbolt lock is for your security when you are inside the unit. Remember your keys as there is a $10 Lock Out fee. Noise levels: Move all patio parties indoors by 10 PM and keep music and TVs turned down after 10 PM

DRYING CLOTHES Though there is a dryer you will find that the sun is much faster. Hang wet towels out on patio to dry in the sun.

RINSING OFF SNORKEL GEAR AND SELF OUTSIDE There is a shower located by the pool as well as a hose about 20ft to the right of the patio

BUYING FOOD. Groceries are very expensive on Maui so listen up! 1. Best prices for staples like butter, milk, bread, eggs etc are at Wal-Mart. You can buy gallon size water and refill for 40 cents at Wal-Mart. It is open from 7am to 11pm. I have left a water container in the fridge that you can fill. 2. Costco is the best place to buy cheese, meats, fresh fish, etc. except that you have to buy such large quantities. You must have a Costco membership 3. Safeway offers a free discount card and you will save a bundle if you get that! That is the best way to purchase all other groceries. 4. There are Saturday open markets in Kihei for local produce that are pretty good. 5. You will find local fresh fish everywhere.

RECYCLING. Newspapers go behind dumpster in the grocery cart 2. Pop cans go in the trashcan to the left of the dumpster 3. Plastic, glass: Wailuku Recycling Center. When you go out to the main road, turn right and continue on that road past the Kihei and Kahului exits. It is about 3 miles between here and Wailuku on the right. Thanks for recycling!!! There is also a recycling drop area on Piilani Highway on the way to Wailea/Makena Beach area.

EATING OUT In this book I have printed out a complete list of restaurants with their area/location and their general per person menu price range. I have highlighted the restaurants in Maalaea Harbor in yellow. There is something for every price range and budget. I have been told that the Saimin soup at the BLUE MARLIN is the best deal on Maui and that the WATERFRONT is the best restaurant on Maui.

ENTERTAINMENT Get the local alternative papers in the coffee shops to find out what is going on and also the local Maui News which is sold at the front lobby here. Old Lahaina Luau is purported to be the best Luau in all of Hawaii. Lahaina and Kihei are the hot spots. There isn't too much going on here in the harbor past dinner. There are foreign films on Wednesday nights at Castle Theater in the Maui Cultural Center. $10 There are movie theatres in Kihei and Lahaina and Kahului.

ENERGY CONSERVATION: Note: Maui burns diesel for electricity!!! Please help save the environment by turning off lights, TVs, AC etc whenever you leave the apartment. The condo will stay very cool if you close the front drapes, especially early in the morning when the sun is strong. On the same note, there is a serious water shortage on Maui the same as everywhere else. Please do what you feel comfortable doing to minimize usage.

POLLUTION You can use half the dishwashing chemicals and still do the job. You know all the other things!

ANIMAL PROTECTION Do not chase or grab sea turtles, dolphins or whales. They are an endangered species and their environment is totally challenged by lack of space and human contact. Take low fuel sail boats instead of engine driven boats.

CONDO GATHERINGS There is a gathering every Friday night by the pool for anyone staying at the Island Sands. You need to bring pupus (appetizers) of some kind. Also, there is a coffee klatch every Friday morning between 8am-10am.

BEFORE CHECKING OUT: On your departure day please check that you have packed all of your belongings; removed all trash; closed and locked the doors and windows; turned off lights and air conditioner. If time permits, the cleaner of your unit would appreciate you starting a load of laundry and starting the last load of dishes in the dishwasher. If you wish, write down your impressions of Maui in the Guest Book.

CHECK OUT : Check-out time is 11:30 AM, in consideration of the time required to clean the unit following departure. If you require a later check-out time, please contact CONDOMINIUM RENTALS at least 24 hours in advance of departure. They will not be able to grant a late check-out if there is an expected arrival on your departure date.

KEY DROP: Please drop off your keys at the Island Sands office or after hours in the key drop next to the office door.

I hope you have the most enjoyable stay at ISLAND SANDS and hope you will return again soon. Mahalo Hui Loa, Wendy Weller and the Staff and the staff of Wellers.
